When former State Senator Cheryl Pflug abruptly withdrew her re-election candidacy after filing concluded for the 2012 election-cycle, it was hard to believe the act was not a coordinated political ploy to hurt the GOP. Pflug’s decision to abandon her seat prevented Republicans from recruiting a credible candidate for the 5th LD Senate seat. Pflug sealed the deal by endorsing a Democrat candidate in the race. Democrat Governor Gregoire rewarded Pflug with a cushy, steady paying job in return for a straight shot at the 5th Legislative District Senate seat.
A recent report by Washington Focus shows that former State Senator Cheryl Pflug has yet to be admitted in the Washington State Bar Association. Failure to take and successfully pass the state bar examination during the course of the last 18 months since her appointment calls into question her qualifications to serve on the Growth Management Commission. King County Republican Party Chair Lori Sotelo released the following statement:
“Pflug accepted a lucrative paying position with an equally lucrative state funded retirement plan on the Growth Management Commission under dubious circumstances and qualifications. Questionable circumstances now surround her service on the Growth Management Commission, including an apparent cover-up of Pflug’s lack of qualification to serve. Reality points to an irrefutable conclusion: Cheryl Pflug wasn’t qualified when appointed and apparently is not qualified now. Pflug should end the charade and step down.”
