Thursday, January 15, 2009 City Club Presented in Partnership with The Seattle Public Library Law & Politics Series: Elections Director Debate Seattle Public Library - Central Branch 1000 Fourth Avenue, Seattle Registration: 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. /Program: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but please register in advance. In the November election, voters approved an amendment to the county charter changing the Elections Director from an appointed position to a nonpartisan elected office. A special election on February 3 will decide the winner, with as many as 11 candidates expected to file. The Elections Director will make $146,040, oversee a budget of over $19 million, and administer up to 6 elections a year. What qualifications are needed to do the job well? How does each candidate envision this new role, and what changes would they like to see made? Bring your own questions and join us as we meet the candidates for this newly created elected office.
